Turbo Hoses
Turbo: what is it?
Turbocharger or turbocharged, more commonly known as turbo, is a system consisting of an impeller, called turbine, which is put into operation thanks to the passage of exhaust gases and a compressor impeller, connected to the turbine by means of a small shaft, a turbine and a compressor. Today it is undoubtedly the most widespread system. Most of the cars currently in circulation are equipped with a turbocharger. The compressor, driven in rotation by the turbine, compresses the air and injects it into the intake manifold, providing the engine cylinders with a greater quantity of air than could normally be drawn. It is a highly efficient system because it uses the residual energy of the exhaust gases to drive the turbine and with it the compressor. In this way it is possible to add a greater quantity of fuel to the combustion chamber, thus ensuring greater power to the vehicle. Considering that, precisely because of this power, even the exhaust gases are forced out more quickly, it happens that the turbocharger will rotate more quickly giving an increasing power to the engine itself. The impeller normally exceeds 180,000 /m.
The variable geometry turbocharger
Conceptually identical to the turbocharger, the biggest difference from this is inherent in the engine impeller or exhaust. In fact, it is surrounded by moving vanes which determine the variation in the angle of incidence of the exhaust gases with the vanes of the driving impeller. Depending on the function of the rotation regime, these are closed or opened to favor speed or flow according to the regimes themselves. This leads to a greater flexibility and adaptability of behavior than the fixed “Turbo” wind turbine: a variable geometry turbine allows to obtain the same low inertia of a small turbine and the air flow (therefore power) of a turbine larger.
Turbo hoses
The turbo hoses are used to convey this air at high pressure both during suction and compression. Unigom’s turbo hoses are made to withstand hydrocarbons and oil particles that could form in the cooling compressed air. Except for the printed turbo hoses, our turbo hoses are made of three aramid fiber fabric reinforcements. The external silicone rubber compound is of the VMQ type (Vinyl-Methyl Quality) and the internal coating is made of FVMQ silicone (Fluor Vinyl-Methyl Quality) in order to give it greater resistance to oil particles and / or hydrocarbons in Suspension. This product is also available without FVQM silicone, replacing it using standard VMQ silicone.
Aramid reinforcements
Operating pressure and breaking load were determined by pressure tests according to ISO 1402/2009.
